Who is this up and coming author, Sonja Holsti-Wells?

She jokingly says, "Sonja Holsti 'Dash' Wells, but you can call me Dash!" She was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kansas, graduating Fort Scott High School in the mighty class of 1965! For the past 35 years she has lived and worked in Nevada, Missouri. She and her husband, Timothy, are partners in Counseling Associates, a private counseling agency, offering individual, marriage and family therapy to all ages. They share their 100+ year old Carthage stone home with their two therapy pets, Maddie and Lizzie, their ragdoll cat, Sylvia, a male ghost and a ghost cat.

Among the happiest times at home are when their blended family of seven children, their spouses, their five grandchildren, and extended family members come for birthday and holiday gatherings. The house is then rocking with music, playing games, talking and, of course, eating!

Sonja is actively involved in her faith community, which has offered her the opportunity to go on teaching missions to Mozambique, Africa, on two occasions. At the top of her list of things to do in the future, is being financially capable of going back to Mozambique and or three months at a time to teach and mission at the Cambine Seminary and School, the Carolyn Belshe Orphanage, and their covenant church in Canda. She is quoted as saying, "I left part of my heart in Mozambique upon each departure and I must go back."

She was on the founding board of the Council for Families in Crisis, a group formed to assist women and children who were victims of abuse. Out of the group came the first Abuse Hotline in the county and subsequently the opening of The Moss House, a residential center for abused and battered women and their children. This house, sadly, remains at the maximum capacity most of the time.

Sonja and Tim are involved in the music of their church, and perform musically and theatrically for the local arts council. They met while auditioning for the same play, and continue to share their love for theatre, music and each other. Tim states that he is Sonja's Number One Fan! Her ringtone on his phone is "Brown-Eyed Girl!"
