Dr. Bruce Daniels

Dr. Bruce Daniels is a professor of physics at Pittsburg State University. His love for the violin and the beautiful music he performs led Dr. Daniels to use his instrument to teach a unit on how sound is produced and explores the issues of tone production.

His book Exploring the Violin Tone can be used effectively in the physics or music class as well as in the private music studio.

Dr. Daniels earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1950 at the University of Kansas in Engineering Physics, his Master's in Radiation Biophysics in 1954 at the University of Kansas and his PHD in physics in 1959 also at the University of Kansas.

He had applied music (1946-1955) and private violin at Kansas City University.

Dr. Daniels special interests are physics education, physical science education, and musical acoustics.

He has been assistant concertmaster of the Southeast Kansas Symphony under the direction of Carolann Martin, concertmaster of the Kansas City University Symphony, N. Derubertis, conductor. He performs regularly in chamber music and occasional solo recital performances and regularly serves on the music department master's degree committees.

He has conducted workshops in Tone Experiments for Violinists using his Book, Exploring the Violin Tone.
